Okay, im thinking about getting a type-x 12 (im an sq guy) and i was wondering if my current amp is up to snuff. Its an Alpine MRV-1507, 2 channel, with these specs:

Power Output: RMS Continuous Power (at 12.0V, 20 Hz to 20

kHz)

MRV-1507

Per channel into 4 ohms ......................... 150W, 0.08% THD

Per channel into 2 ohms .......................... 300W, 0.3% THD

Bridged into 4 ohms ................................ 600W, 0.3% THD

Power Output: RMS Continuous Power (at 14.4V, 20 Hz to 20

kHz)

MRV-1507

Per channel into 4 ohms ......................... 225W, 0.08% THD

Per channel into 2 ohms .......................... 450W, 0.3% THD

Bridged into 4 ohms ................................ 900W, 0.3% THD

Max. Power (at 14.4V)

MRV-1507

Per channel into 4 ohms ............................................ 450W

Bridged into 4 ohms ................................................ 1500W

Frequency Response ................... 10 Hz to 50 kHz (+0, –1 dB)

Signal-to-Noise Ratio

(referenced to rated power) ........................................ 105 dBA

And was wondering if that is enough power to make the type-x move. Im not going for SPL competition loud, but i want enough bass to rock a hatchback pretty well, adn i love alpine. IF this isnt enough power, anyone need the amp? its pretty beefy, and used to power my 12's nicely.

it should sound good cause you'll probably get around 800wrms from the amp but if you can upgrade your amp... the type x can handle 1000-1200wrms

i always like to have a little more power than specs say. so in your case i would look for 1200. that way you can run 1000 and if you want a little more output put it on 1200

According to Alpine's website, they are dual 4ohm.

Which means you would really benefit from a new amp.

Right now your only option is to wire the subwoofer's coils in series for a final 8ohm load, which would only give the subwoofer half of the above 4ohm bridged ratings.

Anyone heard of Logic soundlabs? lookin at a monoblock they make with 940Wx1 RMS @ 2 ohms.
