Do D Class amps use less or more amps?

I have a 2 channel amplifier, that bridges into 4 ohm mono.... does running the amp in 4 ohm mono act the same as running a D class amp as far as how much impact it has on your alternator? I read that Mono power amps put less stress on the alternator.... so when i bridge the amp into 4 ohm mono, will it change how much stress goes on my electrical system?

Thanks

Have an Xli 2500 as a sub amp in the music room, overkill for sure, never overheats, never skips a beat.
