Do component speakers run parallel?

Hey guys I know this is a rookie question but if you have component speakers connected to an amps 1 channel and they are both 4 ohm does it become a 2ohm load since its basically a parallel connection or dies the crossover somehow separate it? Thanks

if both speakers are 4 ohm, thatll translate to either a 2 or 4 ohm load, but component speaker manufacturers know that the ideal final load is 4 ohms, so the put resistors in the crossover network to make the final load be 4 ohms.

the chinese ones use black magic instead of resistors tho, so if the ones youre using are chinese, be sure to make the appropriate amount of live chicken sacrifices to the gods of speakers to ensure their continued functionality

Ok cool so I should be at a 2 ohm load if I have both my component sets on one channel + to + and - to -. Also when taking a multimeter can I measure the channels or speakers on that channels resistance by just touching the wires right at the amp or will the results be all messed up? When I measure ohm directly at the amp it reads 2.5 for both my front and rear speakers that are connected in parallel. Maybe the 10ft run of speaker wire adds slightly to the resistance when measuring it directly at the amp?

what gear do you have/want?

normally you only wire subs in parallel or series, not components (tweets, mids and crossovers)

Ok well I have the nvx v series components that have a crossover. The 4 channel amp I bought was broken so I only have my old 2 channel amp. So I have my front component sets running off 1 channel and my rears running off the other channel. Which would be fine the only problem I currently have is one of the tweeters died and so I bought some alpine type s tweeters that have a crossover inline and I'm trying to figure out if I should just cutoff the alpine crossover and use the nvx crossover or if its ok to plug the alpine tweeter into the input section of the nvx crossover box or if that will basically make it a parralel connection. All speakers are 4ohm. I will be getting a new 4 or maybe 5 channel amp in a few days whenever amazon processes my refund from the busted amp.

Is this supposed to be a good amp? I have purchased a rockford fosgate r300x4 which had great reviews and probably is a really good amp for 106$. It was probably just a fluke it came busted.

lots of peeps run the 900.4 here, jeff has 4 of the 2 channels i think and 1 guy is gonna run 4 p1k's like mine.. not best amp on earth by far but pretty clean at least at 4 ohm and (190x4 at 4ohm is alot for most peeps) and dependable.. my 1k mono tested at 1162rms for $169..

Nice ill research it. I just noticed your picture, do you have a gtp? I have a 99 grand prix gt that's topswapped with, headers, e85, fsic intercooler, rockers, and a bunch of other shenanigans.
