Do amps give off a burning smell?

ok i have a voltage meter i just need a 50 hz test tone which i cannot find. I downloaded one from realmofexcursion.com but it saves as a movie file so it doesnt work. Can someone link me to a 50 hz test tone? thanks.

The smell isn't a sign it's breaking in. It's a sign you're overpowering it. Possibly due to inproper gain and/or bass boost settings, which lead to clipping.

You want to use the 0db tone.

Sorry for the thread jack,

but why did he do it on purpose? Is having a -6 db test tone better and a way of properly setting the gains? Is it made for daily driving setups? Hmmmm i might say F'ck the 0 db and go with the -6 if i can get more info on why he did it. Thanks.

I believe he says why in the test tones sticky. I set the gain and it's at about 1/2 I hope everything is ok now. Thanks for your help.
