DMM on battery reading 16.7 volts at idle .. Bad alternator voltage regulator?

yea , but Im getting the opposite, Its being overcharged, cuz Im assuming the regulator shit the bed.. So If I turn on a shitload of accessories ( lights, heat radio etc ) , it "might" drop the voltage down a little bit.. Im not worried about the batt dying, Im worried about it overcharging , and bursting
Read what I said again. With the alt disconnected, turn off as many accessories as possible whi;e driving home on battery only. To preserve batt power.

Sounds like you have a faulty regulator.

You should just disconnect your Alt for the 30 mile drive. Your battery should hold up well alone without an alt for that period.

Just disconnect both plugs going into the alt and let it ride? I have to fully recharge the battery anyways.. its completely dead again.. SO Im guessing something in the alt regulator is faulty and continuously draining the battery
