Display-Strange Song Numbering

Tough to title this, but here it is ; I'm pretty sure this only happens with a flash drive, as source for

mp3 tunes. I recently dropped 21 CDs of music onto a 4 gig flash drive. The music plays great-

but the number sequence on the display just continues to ascend, from song one , right on up to the

total number of songs in all the named folders.

Each folder / album contains songs numbered 01 - 09 , or to 10, 11...whatever. If I allow the tunes to play in sequence, OR if I push the advance button, the displayed song number never goes back to 01, for the first song of the next folder. I've advanced it as high as the 80's.

Is it something to do with being on a flash drive, and not a CD ? Or should the numbers be built-in to

the song titles, similar to .jpg's and "tagging" ?

(sorry, I'm doing this without info on the car's CD/radio, and it is not a top-name brand. Even so, it

plays fine and has many nice features.)

prob cause its all playing out of the root folder

by advance do you mean that you go into each individual folder?

i'm not completely sure, but my guess is just cause its a flash drive

There is no root folder, unless you're calling the drive itself the root. There are 21 named folders by different artists. By "advance" I simply mean moving to the next title, as with any player device. I would have thought that after the end of - folder 1 , title 10 - ( any folder, last song )... the player

would move to -folder 2 , title 01 - instead it will play the first tune of the next folder, but the display

will show - title number 11. ( for the given example )

It's not a crisis , all songs will be played. But if you knew of - for ex. - a great tune that is number 04 , located in a folder by a certain artist , you have no way of selecting it IF that option existed - nor by using the "next title"/advance button......UNLESS you had counted all the tunes in each folder and added them in a string, to reach the number that the player will assign the tune. Again, for ex. - it

may be title no. 27 , or 56, or 99 ! (currently 194 titles, combining all folders in the drive)

A lot of words for a simple explanation. Sorry, but hope it's clearer now.

oh, i'm not sure, and yeah, by root i meant like the flash itself with all the folders being played
