dim receiver display after installation

I just moved a Sony CDX-L250 receiver from one car into another. After we got it hooked up, we noticed that the display was very dim. I'm pretty sure all of the wires were connected properly, and the only ones that weren't wired together were the orange/white (dimmer) from the car and the blue/white from the receiver (power antenna, I think.) The buttons all seem to be properly lit, and the LCD display seems to be the only thing that is dim (you cannot even see it at night.) There is no way to adjust brightness/contrast on the unit itself.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to look at/try to resolve this?

this might sound like a stupid idea, but I was just sitting here thinking. Would it be possible to hook the orange dimmer wire up to the blue receiver wire instead (right now it is blue>blue)? would this possibly fix the problem?

I'm not 100% on the wire, but i don't think you should use it check here; http://www.installdr.com/

Before you get too into it, i know that some sony decks have a button that make the display dimmer, im looking at a picture of it online, but i can see anything. Do you know if your deck has a dimmer button.

From what I could tell, there was neither a dimmer button or any menu options to adjust the brightness/contrast.

Here is a link to the practically useless user manual. You have to click the "Primary User Manual" link on that page to view the PDF. Like I said, though, it is practically useless.

The really weird thing is that the owner (not me) is now saying that the buttons actually look brighter than they were before. This may just be because the screen is so dim and is making the buttons look brighter in comparison.

1. Did you reset the the radio after you installed it? If not try that.

2. And there is a button called display, maybe that might do the trick, if you have not already done it.

A far as seeing everything else other than screen brighter, that doesn't make sence. Normally if you dim the unit everything goes dim not just the screen.

Good luck

We read something about resetting the unit yesterday, and we tried it, but it didn't do anything. The DISP button merely changes what information is displayed (clock vs track # and playing time, etc)

I am stumped. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
