Digital Designs 2508 What size amp?

How much power should I feed this thing? I can't find any specs for it. I am installing it in a 1.00' net volume ported box, tuned to 34hz. It was made for an 8w7 but the specs seem about right from what I have read. I ran 500 rms to the w7 and it seemed like it wanted more. Would 1000rms be about right for the DD 2508"

1000rms of clean power should be fine if you know what you are doing and its a proper built box. They are rated at 800rms but will take more (like I said if you know what your doing and its clean power.) I have personally owned 4 2508s, 3 1508s, and 4 308s. I loved them all and you should be pleased with its output.

Thank you very much. I bought a Pioneer Gm-D6901 Amp. It is rated at 800rms at 2 ohm, supposedly. I was not impressed with the amp. It could be that the sub needs to be broken in. How long is the break in period? I was considering a Massive audio amp the N4 rated at 1000rms at 2ohm.

You mean 9601 right? I ran one for quite a while and it's a pretty stout little amp man.

I am trying to replace my JL 900/5 amp with the Gm-D9601 and a 4 channel pioneer amp. The JL was more clear and the bass hit harder and it is rated at 100/4 and 500/1. I'm gonna try a Massive Audio N4 and and a Massive audio Nx4 amp next. I may even ditch the 2508 and go with two Hippo 8's wired for a 1 ohm load.

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure how to make a ported box, I've only built sealed boxes. My height max is 10", length and width aren't as limited. It is a notchback 5.0 Mustang, lol!

The box that the DD is in right now measures 25.5"L x 10"H x 12", slot ported. If you google 8W7 sub box, you'll see it. It's from MSW.
I looked at that box and it does look like the port is way to small...plus it rear fires with the sub...two major improvements would be to design the box where the sub and the port can load on each end...sub one side port other...It would be more of a stealth install...and sub would be more protected of damage...
