Yes.. they are worth a shit... I've never had a problem with them...Originally posted by LoneRanger
1. Are Ultimate Sound amps worth a ****? *PLEASE NOTE* Do not awnser this question if you don't own or have owned an ultimate sound amp. Nothing pisses me off more than replies where someone says "Well, my buddy had this amp and it sucked" You'll never know the full potential of an amplifier until you own it and have time to play with it.
it'll draw around 115-125 amps @ full power @ 14 volts, as the voltage drops, current draw will increase... If she's a volume junkie, her alt won't hold up very a long time.2. How many amperes will this thing draw if it puts out 1200w RMS @ 1 ohm @ 80% efficiency? Will her stock 110 amp alternator keep up with it?
PWM is a type of switching power supply, used to regulate voltage in a switching power supply. You need this in instances where the supply voltage, or the current demand on the power supply isn't constant. Regulated amps, use PWM, while unregulated amps do not.3. WTF is "Pulse Width Modulation"?
A deeper insight on PWM can be found here: http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/pwmps.htm
nothing to worry about here... you may experience some FM interferce from a Class D amp through your radio though..4. Is there anything I should know about maintaining/installing a class D over the class A/B's I've owned in the past? Is there any real physical difference?
Class D amps compress when you attempt to overdrive the power supply (i.e cranking the gains, and volume, and bass boost) If you overdrive the input stage, you're gonna clip them. If you keep your input signal to 2 volts, or so.. you'll be fine...5. Do class D's tend to clip more than a/b's? The last thing I need is some clip-happy amp ruining my beautiful 'bahns a week after I install them.
I've had good luck with boss, and pyramid woofers.. they usually sport a nice looking basket, and the lack of a decent motor, makes them easy on the neck... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif6. This one is especially for Lloyd: What subwoofers work best as hats? I tried a Kicker L5, but it clashed with my shoes. I tried an Audiobahn piston, but it kept falling off. The shocker 2 fit nicely, and it even matched my outfit, however the 60lb magnet caused undue neck strain.
