Digital amps...why not?

Well right now, it's on the fritz. It goes into protect even with nothing but power and ground hooked up. But then his car decided to quit starting. So I think the two may be linked...

You can call the US Rep if you need info. Steve is his name. I don't have his number handy but I am sure given time he will pop back in here... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the replies.I am still wondering if they are a good buy? Good for a daily driver on a 12v system? Do they take more electrical than normal (with the same wattage as conventional amps)?

Not so sure if it's that, or that maybe it's people running them off one battery for a particular street class.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif
10,000 watts + 1 battery = disaster waiting to happen....
Actually that shouldn't be a problem.

Our street B car has 2x SD16kD and runs one 100Ah 12V battery (and 30 runs of 1/0). I have one 1F cap so the radio won't shut down, at the end of the burp the amps are at 9V, playing at 1.7ohm each.

I never damaged an amp on street classes (limited 12V source).

The amps have a PWM power supply, though.

I hear both stetsom and soundigital both have high RMA repairs because of their claims of 16v survivablity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif
I can speak for SD on that matter.

We never had any RMA.

Our amps are limited on specs to 18V but considering a 16V charging system sometimes fluctuate at 18.5 or even 19V, our amps are able and projected to withstand that voltage.

We also never produce any special voltage amp, like 12V or 16V version of anything, the power supply is made to maintain a high power at the 8-18V voltage range.

oh really, hmm thats goos to know, what do you think of the taramp design?
I would never post here what I think of their designs... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But, yes, are their own design.

HMmm so 2 x 16K amps on one battery?

Would those happen to be the amps that I got a call about today needing repair.....? They are 2 x SD16K's..... I thought you never got any RMA's (returns)?

LOL I just had to post this....

Please explain the math on how many actual watts you are getting from 9V with 2 16K amps on a single 100ah battery....

Oh, about the RMA term I was thinking on replacing for other product, sorry, I saw that here is used as a noun to refer to damage on product, so yes, some amps get defects, like any other product in world.
