difference between vfl 120.1 and vfl 4480.1

Size/space may be the reason?Everyone wants power but in a smaller package these days..I have a few 4480.1s, and havent looked up the specs for the 120.1 for comparison. Interesting question for sure.I myself wouldnt mind the information.

so its a hit or miss chineese piece of junk compared to a rated 2200 watts.

but i do see a lot of peole using the 4480.1 often 2 of these in 1 application. are they just as efficient or less stressful as the 120.1? or should bob have never made these amps to begin with. lol

Some have success, some have issues right off the bat. Its a gamble IMO. Paid off for some, and disappointed others. The 120.1 should be more efficient with better components, heatsink and circuitry board. A few members on here had issues with them along with a some facebook. However audiobahn, mylows10 and oa5man had success with them so its all on you depending on what you want to do.

why would bob come out with 2 diff amps if specs are not very different from each other.
As already mentioned the VFL is the much superior amp (both in terms of quality and output).
On a side note, Bob has had some recent products come out that are not very different from each other (he's releasing another 1200RMS subwoofer called the elite series which is strange because he already has three subwoofers that run great on 1200 watts, the XFL, XR, and HD). He's also releasing the VFL 1K/3K which are the exact same RMS as the VFL 80.1/150.1

Both amps listed in ops post are vfl series.

The hybrid vfl's are made brazillian style, but fails to fully produce a clean output.

I dont think its Brazilian style. Its Chinese style voodoo magic where power comes out of nowhere. Brazilians easily put out power idk what the hell the 4480.1 does. Maybe if I ever get my hands on one that puts out proper power, then i'll find out.

voodoo magic lol.

yea ive ran a set of xfls. they slapped hard and low.

i run a pair of the xr's right now, they sound nice. beat pretty hard but lack the lows. but the sound in a good box is noticeably better than xfls.

I was running a vfl120.1 for a while and it was a beast of an amp. I've messed around with a few vfl4480's but they really don't compare to the vfl120. I was running ran my vfl120 at 0.6 ohm, and it never broke a sweat. Decided to feel to see if they were hot. It was around 100* outside and I had been playing full tilt for about 1.5-2hrs, the amp was barely warm to the touch. But an amp is only going to be as efficient as your electrical will let it.
