Diamond D5600.1 at 1.33 ohm?

Hey all. Im tossing around the idea of adding another Atlas 12 to my stereo. I have a pair now. Anyway, Im wondering if anyone has ever ran, or heard of someone running a D5600.1 at 1.33 ohm, and if so how it took it?

They are going to be in a 1.3ish cu.ft. sealed box, so Im wondering if there would be enough impedance rise to safely do this, or maybe raise it up to 2 ohm. Unlikely though.

Let me know

Thanks:D

I used to run a D5600.1 at 1 ohm for a few months. When they were first released, there was an error in the literature that claimed they ran at 1 ohm stable. So that's how I ran it. I never noticed a problem with it until I took a trip to visit my sister in Kansas. After an hour and half, the amp went into protection. I pulled over to check it out. Amp was hot as hell.

It ran at 1 ohm fine for my everyday driving, 30 minutes at most I would drive continously.

It might do it, but I think it will mess it up over time.

Yeah, I Emailed Coop the other day and havent got a reply yet, and if I have a question I like the answer quick so I decided to make a post here for a faster result. Im betting he'll get back to me tomarrow. Coops the man. He gave me free stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Most of the time Im only driving for around 30 min too, but sometimes on the weekend Im in the vehicle for awhile. How many hours did you run yours before it went into protect Slick?

I guess Im not sure on the real impedence of my subs either. Maybe they are over 4 ohm enough for it to work. No DMM at the moment though. Im thinkin I might be getting a Fluke 88 series for Xmas though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks guys

about an hour and half before protect. This was during the summer, 90+ degree weather, with the amps in the trunk along with luggage. You can possibly do better, with the amps in the cabin, with the A/C on, I dunno.

K, thanks.

I was even thinking last night, I think I remember reading somewhere that there is a way to wire an Atlas for 6 ohm. Wouldnt that kick a$$ if its true. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what part of kansas

Woot! Called Chad today, if you series wire in the 2nd coil you got 6 ohms.

Perfect! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
