depth of speaker > depth of box

If I wanted a sub that was 6.15" deep, but my box was only 6" deep, is there any way to make it fit. I have seen people grind the inside of the box out to make it a little deeper, and I have been told that I could just screw a piece of plywood to the front of the box to make the sub sit higher. Would this effect the performance of the sub? A deeper box is pretty much out of the question with the limited amount of space available.

No problem grinding out 1/4" to clear the magnet, Unless the woofer is vented. If so you need at least 1/2"clearance behind the vent in the magnet.

Last resort is cutting a hole and then glass it in from the inside. 3/16" of glass is plenty stong for a 6" hole, which will give you the clearance you need.
