Dell has finaly sold out...

Prowler:

I agree with the fact they are out to make money, however flippix has hit the head on the nail when he mentioned the "business plan". Michael Dell's plan was to offer "customizeable" machines to their customers. Dell and only Dell could sell you a machine flavored and tailored just for you, the individual customer. This was the beauty of Dells product. Sure they will make money (probably very good money) very quickly, however I feel they will sink their own ship when Wal-Mart begins the never ending song and dance of "falling prices". Profit margins will shrink and they will no longer be able to make money on the cookie cutter PC's sold there. Low quality and mass production will hurt Dell in the long run.

Meh. not a DELL fan.
me either. They have some Ok laptops (i own one), but i wouldn't buy any prebuilt desktop.. I'd just build one for myself. The one i just bought was for someone else. I just config'ed it and found some coupon codes for them.

Is everyone forgetting that Dell is the #2 standardized computer supplier to the goveryment?

Yes, Dell might **** for home PC's, but for thier multi million stamped out versions for the goverment - the PC's do exactly what they're purchased for.

That is something I want to try. I have no idea where to start, but I have an idea where I want to be.

I am afraid because I don't want to lose the programs I have on my computer. Kronos and some of those others are very expensive programs. The school lisecened them to us to use during classtime. I still kept them. However once they are gone, it is gone.

I am on a govt computer dell. However, I did not choose it.

There is quite a difference between being issued a computer and buying one off the shelf.

If that's the computer you bought, you got ripped off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Not really, after discounts it was only about $620 with a 19" LCD and ms works. Its not really a great deal or anything but I bet its a better deal than if the person who bought it would have just called the 1-800 number and ordered.

Dell is going to be fine, I think.

The two colleges I attend, one for summer classes, both use Dell primarily. Businesses own Dell for office use. It's not a smart move on the grounds of customer service and support, but it's far from dangerous.
