Dell Computer Problem

I have a computer at home its a Dell Inspiron and The other day i noticed the fans shut off on it.

I didnt think anything of it because it does that when it cools off. Well I came back upstairs and i smelt a funny smell, went to get on my laptop and it was off.

I tried turning it on and nothing would work, it was charged and everything....

Does anyone know what burnt up and if so how much it costs to fix it?

No it does not have any warranty left on it

There is absolutely NO way of us knowing what happened... Open it up and see whats black.

I didnt know if someone might no what could of possibly burnt up because why would the fans be needed.....

I opened it up and nothing was black thats why i asked

my only assumption would be hardware failure due to the fans going off. my dell got hot as hell.

MKore than likely the CPU overheated and is toast. It more than likely took the mobo with it as well. Sucks dooder.

I just opened one up and I'm almost sure that you took out the processor!

Microprocessor.

That's the only thing that NEEDS a fan (if not a fan, some huge-*** heatsink). Additional fans are just put in to lower the temperature of the computer as a whole.

depending on what model of inspiron it could be the gpu fan. He could have a gf 6800, 6800 ultra, or even a 7800gtx. But i agree its either the cpu or gpu.

my inspirion lap top (1150) has had NOTHING but problems. The power connection where the charger plugs into inside has gone twice, the heatsink went bad once, it crashed once, and they forgot to send me a windows reinstallation disk with it, so i had to wait 2 weeks for that, but other then that.

But I can say, that when it does break, and ya call dell if ya have a warranty, you have laptop back in like 2 days- 3 days tops, including shipping
