Decent sound system for 300$ish

I'm back guys! I'm browsing ebay right now looking for what you suggested. I found a combo on kijiji and I'm wondering if it could be an interesting deal. The guys is asking 220$ (negotiable) for 2x 12in MTX subs and an amp (RT4240) and the sub box. He doesn't specify the model of the subs though, but he said he paid 1000$ for this (I know he could be lying, I know...). Could I consider this? Also, what's better between the w6 and the sa8 youguys posted?

Thanks again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what kind of car ,this is where we start.and i wouldn't get that set up.
It's a toyota tercel ce 1999. I want pro advice. Help me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif budget was bumped to around 450$. Thanks

There's a kove armageddon z 15 and 1400 rms mmatts amp on my local cl. Shipping from ny isn't much. That's a sweet deal but I don't have any thing to do with that stuff. If interested I could buy it off the guy and ship it to you
That sounds like a good idea if you say it's a good deal. How much is the guy asking for? And would it be a good buy for a first setup?

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you are a bass head like me you could just use that budget for a decent sub, amp, box, wiring, and head unit. Then when you save up some more money you could get the door speakers. If you want the whole package you may have to increase your budget.

yeah, to be honest, 300 is usually a low budget for just the sub-stage (subwoofers and subwoofer amplifier) alone. I would try to spair around 100 for a head unit, you can get some door speakers for probably 70 bucks for a full set (4) that would be good enough. looking at closer to 500 for everything together for it to sound like a beginner set-up. if you buy the stuff you posted, you will only be dissappointed in the end with no room to expand on that system at all. you would have to buy all new equipment to upgrade.
My first real substage ran me $500+. Dont get me started on my first real front stage. Ive got more than $300 worth of sound deadener and closed cell foam in my car alone with 2 more packs of deadener and 3 more rolls of foam in the garage that needs to go in.

OP Id up your budget. You can always start in pieces. Start with the headunit and front speakers. Get those installed and do it right with deadener. Get those dialed in how you like them to sound and then do the sub stage. Get that dialed in. If you still need more go to the rear speakers and get those in.

I was in your position a little over a year ago. You're better of slowly putting together a good system, than going too cheap and ending up with a mediocre system.

I'd go: HU > sub/amp/wiring > front speakers > speaker amp > rear fill if you want it.

You can get a decent HU for $150, a sub/amp/customer box combo for $300, front comps for $100, and a multichannel amp for $100. Wiring will run you somewhere around $100 for RCAs, power wire, ground wire, speaker wire, distro blocks, and an inline fuse.

Just buy as funds allow and you'll get there eventually. The system in my sig is 2 years in the making, slowly acquiring as funds allowed me to. I'm going to install all of it this Christmas break, and will finally have a system. It's better to wait and get good gear by watching classifieds and holiday sales than it is to jump in quickly and waste money on very low quality gear.
