Ok we'll I checked on bestbuy and they have some good prices for what I've seen. Actually, since they offer free shipping in Canada, it's cheaper for me to buy from them. Here's what I found for 450$ tax and shipping included.

this is a nice kenwood for cheap. 4v pre-outs are awesome and it has a usb port which i find convenient for higher quality mp3 playback.

your front speakers are going to be 4 inch speakers. I have a pair of newer kicker KS series 4s that I'm not using and i can let you take them for 40 shipped and that will put you at about 400 bucks total. then you will need a wiring kit and speaker box and you're set.

Forget Bestbuy and any brand they carry unless its decks your talking about... Alpine Kicker Rockford JL and any others like that will be over priced...

Are you okay with used gear? Look for a KDC-HD545U headunit on ebay.. 6 channel preamp outputs and built in HD radio tuner. Thats plenty to start with.. hell I only had sub pre amp outputs on my first headunit.

NVM, get the Excelon X-395 that someone else recommended. Better head unit but you lose the HD radio for 4v preamp outputs.. worth the trade off
