You can go active with the S4, but I cannot get it to sound as good as the crossover in the prs880.
I tried it both ways last night, with same xpoint, same slope. The pioneer was much cleaner about it.

i tried the same with my 9887/S4 combo. same result as you.

Horns are incredible effecient....should need much at all. But headroom is always nice

i'm only sending my tweets 25 x2 @ 8ohm and it's more than enough.

I have an old school Soundstream D60 and an older PPI 2030....One of those might be a better choice on the Horns...Both are extremely clean sound....Either is rated at 30 x2

Sending my tweets about 50@4....but they are not as sensitive...Cal27s. But boy do the sound nice.

I can put something for a mid in the upper part of the doors where the factory 5x7 componets are mounted...but I'm gonna try this setup first and see what sort of freq response I'll get....There will most likely be a small dip in the 300-700hz area but I'm hoping its just enough to balance out some of the harshness you get in the lower midrange midbass spectrum.....I'm not sure of how low the horns will go as far as mids at this time....I'll just have to listen when I hook them up...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I haven't decided on starting crossover points at this time either...

With the mini body, you should expect them to reach down to 1kz, maybe 800hz. Use a steep slope. You may also encounter an issue with midbass, as most of the team ID members Ive spoke to recommended a 3-way for no other reason than to be able to adjust phase of the midbass drivers independantly from midrange. Aparently midbass likes to be out of phase for the best response alot fo the time, according to them at least. Ive yet to get mine going to try it out.
