Decent 10" sub for around $100

Thanks for all the suggestions, I was surprised by all the replies. Some of those ones yall posted looked really well made for the price but they also looked pretty heavy. I took out my old subs like a year ago cause the box with the subs was probably 75lbs or more. I am into going fast so I don't want to add a whole lot of weight.

That one boston acoustics with the box is a great deal but I measured today and where I want to put it there is only 12.5" of room for height, I might go measure it again to make sure. BTW I don't have an amp so I don't really care how much power the sub needs and all of the wiring from the previous amp is still in place so it should be easy. I just hope that it won't cause the voltage to drop too much cause the engine has an underdrive pulley and when the cooling fans come on the voltage drops from almost 14 to 12.5, but I'll just deal with that then if it becomes a problem.

I would say that I would prefer SQ over spl for a sub. I'm still looking at what all yall suggested and researching.

If you have hp mods and weight concerns, you probably have a very high noise floor in your vehicle. You can overcome this with brute force in amplification, but that will require substantial electrical system upgrades and possibly more added weight and reduction in hp, not to mention a reduction in SQ. To lower the noise floor(ambient noise from wind/engine/exhaust/tires, etc.) will require a very liberally extensive use of sound dampening materials which will also result in a substantial increase in weight. But less amplification required and better SQ will be the result......kind of like a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Prolly on the sub side, look at something like the Sundown E-10 in D4, or even better, that Boston you mentioned in the OP in a custom ported enclosure made from Baltic Birch for dramatic weight savings on a small and compact 500watts like this:

Thanks I appreciate your input. I have considered insulation for all the above reasons. Just too lazy to do it honestly, Though I think I might do it this year, My car has almost no insulation, ripped out most of it. Was factory jute insulation don't think it did much. The trunk is insulated somewhat just with foam to keep it from vibrating. I like the amplifier u posted seems decent and I was wanting something at about 500 watts rms. Weight really isn't a huge issue just would like to keep the box amp and sub at or under 50lbs and I can always add more power to the motor.

Here is a pretty cool and very detailed build log showing the treatments I was referring to, if done throughout, the f/r weight ratio should not be affected much. Not only will this help with vibrations/noise, but also interior heat buildup as well from exhaust, etc.

I have a pair of 8" subs that you could run. Adire Audio Koda 8" subs. They use an XBL^2 motor. Probably more than you want to spend, but there is a nice weight savings in the box department. $150 shipped for the pair.
