ok fellas, going to be ordering deadner for my scion tc when i get back from NYC in a few weeks so I need to make a game plan for this project to make it worth doing.. so heres my questions.. how much deadner do you think I will need to do my trunk floor, around my hatch window, and both doors.. i have never really done much deadning to be honest so im not very sure what I would need. So please let me know what i should buy, your estimate of how much, and where to find this product, and general run down of what product is used for in the deadning family of products..thanks..

for your trunk floor I'd use a spray deadener with some sort of dampening mat (luxury liner from SS or closed cell foam), cutting and laying pieces is just a pain IMO. 2-4 sq ft per door should be enough and probably another 5 sq ft for miscellaneous. I know a lot of ppl are gonna say you need to cover your entire door, in my experience that's just doesn't yield enough result to constitute the cost. any time i deaden a car I usually use a deadener spray (like Dupli-color) just as an under coat, than I place a sheet of deadener roughly twice the width of the speaker on the panel behind the speaker and than place a matching size piece of closed cell foam over that. for me i find that this has a great end result and doesn't empty your wallet.

approx 100 sq ft I'd say. I always go with fatmat but thats just cuz they're well known and cheap. There are tons of brands out there and I'm sure many of them are better. I seem to get by with there original I think its 50 or 70mils but u can get the rattletrap thats good stuff 3x thicker.

Yeah I like to cake the vehicle in it too....there are less expensive ways to do it, like he says here. It does seem to make a difference to just do portions behind the speakers, but I just like that fully caked experience....you can hear the difference when you close the doors/trunk lid. For me the rear deck was really important to deaden, but you can always use foam for that if you like.

im going to really deaden the hatch lid because thats where alot of the rattle is coming from so im going to put some foam in the open spaces behind the plastic peices...then cover that in deadner im thinking.. as far as the amount of work involved..thats not really an issue this is a hobby so its fun to do these things to me i enjoy working on it lol. im going to also hit the doors pretty hard to hopefully really wake those XXX components up and bring them alive more so with a better enclosure with the door being sealed up...hopin to get some pretty good results from the deadning to be honest.. ive heard alot of people say it was best investment they made in their systems

Good luck with the hatch.. Mine still makes some noises but near as bad as before. I used a bulk kit and a door kit from dynamat and it was enough for me. If I was going to cover every square inch it would take another bulk kit. The biggest issue with our hatch is the latch mechinism

I'm impressed with Audio Technix. The was paper backing can stick sometimes which slows down the process, but overall, I am very satisfied. It was over 100 degrees out for a couple days, and nothing came loose. Competitive pricing as well, along with the 7 percent off using the ca.com discount code.

well trunk and doors im goin all out so if 100sq ft isnt enough.. i will order more lol.. the trunk is the one that is bothering me to be honest im anxious to hear how much output in SPL i gain from the deadning also.
