Deadening my truck. A few ???

I have already sent a PM to Second Skin Rep and am waiting on a respons to some questions but I would like to ask you the people who use sound deadening.

I have a 07 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab (4 door for those that dont know) and am getting ready in the next few weeks to pull the seats and carpet to re run all the wires since I will be installing another amp and components in the front doors.

I thought what better time than this to help keep some sound in and others out. Now I have never used any kind of dampening material so this will all be a first for me.

I will be using Damplifier because of its cost to value ratio. I planned on doing all 3 steps. Damplifier, Luxury Liner, and OverKill. Now for the questions.

1) Would 36 sqft be enough to do the floor and all 4 doors? the Damplifier comes in 40sqft but the LL and OK only comes in 36 sqft. Is that enough coverage?

2) Is the regular stuff worth it or should I save up the extra and go for the Pro? Is it worth the extra money?

3) Should I be doing all three or is it over kill for a daily driver that will not be competing?

40sqft of Damplifier, 36sqft of LL and OK with 2 cans of spray glue and a 150' roll of tape comes to $335 shipped for me and that I could do here in the next few weeks. If I go with the same set up but the pro stuff its a total of $500.

The sound of saving $$$ I like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I mean its a truck so I know its never going to sound like a CLS or amything haha

I personally wouldn't bother with the overkill. If you absolutely insist on it, maybe just do the fender wells or something.

I always seal and deaden doors and apply something to the larger panels of the vehicle, but I've only went all out with deadener once. Even then I skipped some stuff. I sealed and deadened all four doors and the trunk of a Lincoln LS and put lux liner pro on the floor. I completely skipped the roof, didn't put any Dynamat Xtreme on the floor and didn't use any external undercoating/sound deadening of any kind. It works just fine.

first question would be what are you expecting? and i think i would do it in steps, if its not quiet enough after the damplifier then add the LL and OK but i think you will want more damplifier than that

Yea if you guys say not to do all three steps and to only go with Damplifier, I think Ill go with the pro and go with 80sqft. That way I can double up in spots if needed.

Like I said, I want to keep some road noise out but mostly keep the sound of the stereo in.

That's not at all what I'm saying. I just don't think the whole 9 yards is the way to go. Seal and deaden your doors, apply some Damp Pro to the large panels in your vehicle, apply a layer of Lux Liner Pro on the floor and maybe use a little bit of overkill under the panels that you think will squeak and shit.

I just don't see a reason to cover every square inch of the vehicle in multiple layers of material. It just seems like a waste of money...especially if this vehicle is a daily driver.

To be honest with you guys, nothing is squeeking right now. The only rattles I get is from the back panel under the rear window and thats just from 3 small fasteners where the interior panel attaches. Right now I put 3 small pieces of duct tape over em and no more rattles haha

ditto, and its a truck never gonna be a caddy, or a benz..
