DD's at a lower tuning???

So in your world, "pretty much the same" just means they share some similarities? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Hell all subs are pretty much the same then.
Not at all, the HD3 and DD 9500 have a bit more in common than most subs. I was wrong to say that the motors are similar but they do share the same soft parts. That came straight from DJ of audioque. I can go find the post if you want. So yea they are pretty much the same for someone looking for input on tuning these types of subs lower. In the end I am in the right by saying that they are pretty much the same because they share the same softparts which is why they both like 40hz tuning.

And fortunately I dont have an ego because I realize that this is the internet and argueing on it is pretty stupid. I guess Ill have to be careful about how I use words on here so this doesnt happen again. And once again for the record pretty much the same means that they are very similar but do have minor differences. They both like 40hz so for the OP they are pretty much the same. Lol you can interpret "pretty much" into so many different things that its pointless to argue over.

Lol Why do you think I have a 3k rms amp then? I would love to use the amp but unfortunately its broken. I personally knew a guy who threw 3K+ at one daily and although it got alittle warm it held up for as long as he had it.
Having lots of power for a sub doesn't mean the sub will handle it. I have a Zapco 9.0 4 ohm version (2,200 underrated watts @ 4 ohms) for a JL 15W6 (old school) that I just bought. Recommended power for the subs is approx 400w and it's a dual 6, meaning it would get 2,200w if I wired in parallel...my point is that just because you have a powerful amp doesn't mean your sub can take it. And don't think i'll be running the sub in parallel, it will be wired in series at 12 ohms and will still see PLENTY of power even at that impedence.

I've done DD's, HD's, and HDC's at 35Hz and at 38Hz. When the subs were new and very stiff I prefered 35Hz, but after they loosened up a fuzz 38Hz offered a little more output to the ear and still sounded good on the music I listen to. They also hit the lows quite well tuned at 38Hz.

And MY HDC's are getting 3k each daily with NO issues. Including burps at 31Hz which is well below box tuning. Pretty tough subs IMO...

So any two subs the share the same suspension soft parts are pretty much the same?

They are pretty much the same to the OP because they have the same recommended tuning frequency. Which is what the point of my first post was. To answer the OP question, not to argue about stupid shit. So far you have not said one helpful thing in this thread. I was actually contributing to the forum. You should try it sometime. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

So any sub with a recommended tuning of 40hz is pretty much the same?
I never contribute anything to this forum, good call man.

Wow this is like talking to a two year old. And yes in relation to the OP question it is the same situation. He asked about tuning lower with a sub that is recommended for 40hz. Well my sub is like that also, so I let him know what my experience was. Tell me how there is a difference there.

Im not the one who keeps changing what he said. All Ive really done is quote you, and ask for clarification of your points. You've contradicted yourself plenty without me needing to add to it.
I just found your little word game of "I didnt say this, I didnt say that" amusing... when the text is all still right there for everyone to see that you did. Im sorry if me pointing out your hypocrisy offended you. My intention was enlightenment, which I see I failed at miserably. *shrug*

Have a nice day.

All that was accomplished when I had my AQ's tuned to 34hz vs. 40hz was lower output on the higher freq. and over emphasized low end. My box peaked at the tuning and output slowly got lower as the freq. went higher. When I tried a higher tuning the low end wasn't hurt that much but the top end had much more strength.

Who woulda thought the people who built the sub knew what box their subs should go in? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I get a chuckle out of it as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

I ran my 9512 at 36hz and it sounded good. I was only feeding it 2k watts and hit 145.6 in trunk of a grand prix. I have owned at least 5 different DD's 2500 3500 and 9500 series and never tuned them to 40. All of them 35-36hz, but thats just me
