Hi. Is the dd1512 freeair sub or not? What sub has better SQ and what plays lower ? What size of ported enclosure need DD and Type R? The post about this two sub's only, please don't advice other models. Thank you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

just read the title more lol.
15s over 12s.cone area.

but also depends on power, like cobra said.
yes you are right

I thought that dd is 15" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

anyway what size of ported enclosure DD need's for best BANG. I have 2.3cf ported enclosure is it enough for 1512 ? 4cf is a limit for my vehicle.

I am using PA A3000db amp

1512 is a 12" 1500 series

which would work in the 2.3ft you have got

if you wanted a 15 it would be the 1515

you could put it in around 3ft

2.3^ft isnt enough for a ported 15" Type R.

Also, that's a pretty good bit of power to send to a single Type R or even the 1512, realistically. Since we're talking in rhymes, and *theoretically* it shouldnt take up much more if any extra space, how about two 1512's or two 12" Type R's on that amplifier? Should make for a better match.

Is DD1512 comparable with Type R 12" ?
DD makes great woofers, but you're talking about their next to lowest line model. It's rated for 500 RMS, if I'm not mistaken, and can probably take a good bit more if you're not stupid. The Type R is Alpines signature "loud" subwoofer. A 12" Type R is also rated at 500 RMS and will take 1,000 rms daily(as should the 1512). What are your price points? Either way you look at it, the PA3000DB at 1ohm is too much power for either single woofer.

I do not have experience with the 1500 series of DD, so I cannot speak for which one will "actually" be louder in a given box. I do think it would be a fairly close race. Are we taking bets? I'd put a few pennies on the Type R. **EDIT** - - Please note, this is just a stupid opinion and made for laughs and giggles. Do not use this previous statement as any determining factor in your decision. Thank you. **EDIT**

whow, thank you for such good comment.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Actually, I have had a Alpine Type R 12" in 2.3cf ported enclosure with 6" port tuned 34Hz. I really like it! It played loud, clear with good low end, but type r's voicecoils has burned a couple days ago. The gain was not adjusted correctly so result is the burned sub. Now I have a chance to buy new DD1512 from one guy or new swr-1222d from the local dealer. I live in europe so the DD subs is rather rare in our land. So I think to try American Bass mashine like DD. Heared that you guys love it in US. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I expect I will not be disappointed with DD1512 after Type r. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I look forward to hear loud bass not less than from Type R.

How do you think is DD plays lower than R's ?
