DD/ Digital Designs re-cone issue resolved

I am Glad Nick added his 2 cent, Fi takes the approach kind of like, give the customer what they want (to a resonable extent) and you may make a customer for life.

I based my first Fi purchase soley on what people were saying about them on the forums, so, when it came time for me to buy a set of recone kits, I went back to what I knew.. Fi .

Not trying to turn this into a this company is better than that, but, Fi sells recones to whoever needs/wants them, for any motor they can recone.

I dont hear them whining about "we dont want our name on other companies motors", Fi even sent me dust caps WITH THEIR logo on them, knowing full well I was reconing knock off Konaki motors.

DD is a great company, with great customer service according to what most of you guys on the forums say, I just dont agree with this policy.

I think he was taking in regards to the amount of similarities between the two companies...they are from the same family (Jess and DJ Langford)...much as like us between Ascendant and Fi..
Exactly. I'm sorry for not clarifying it clearly.

Also, you have to look at it like this:

Recones are not one size fits all.

Sure, you have a 3" coil to fit the gap, but what about winding height?

DD parts in other subs will not perform like the were originally designed.

Try an under-hung coil in an over-hung motor...see what I'm saying?

I'm sure Fi or other companies would gladly sell you a recone to make your subs work, but DD just decided not to. So, take your recone business for random subs to Fi. Its that simply.

DD is in the sub/mid/amp/retail busness.

Fi is in the Sub/recone/direct business.

Two totally different animals. Both are strong by their own means and produce great products.

DD and AQ are not in the recone or parts selling business. FI is and does very well with it. That is a part of their business plan and they are good at it.

We provide recones and parts to our customers as a service to them. Someday I might expand into that end of the market but right now that's not im my business plan or DD's.

Many companies don't do recones or sell parts to their own customer much less some one elses.

DD and Audioque are not owned by the same people; same family not the same people. DD has nothing to do with how I run my business or where my products are made or who I source parts from.

To the best of my knowledge FI is a very well run and respected company with great products and service. If they were not they wouldn't be where they are today. What works for them does not nec work for AQ or DD and there is nothing wrong with that. We don't all march to the same music.

Very well put
