DD/ Digital Designs re-cone issue resolved

thats because they are. They are kinda like the Rolls Royce of car audio products.
You don't see High end car manufactures helping you retro fit a Rolls Royce interior into a Fiat. Its all about company pride.
If it was about company pride, then why did they all of a sudden outsource and try to kill the industry? Now they are pissed off because it backfired on them and everybody has their motor now.

Now they have a name brand association that will forever be Chinese, which nobody will EVER pay a premium price for again. The amp that they have is what $300 for 2200 watts? $290 for an 18" subwoofer rated at 1000 watts? Now that they've leapt into the dismal abiss of China, they've realized that they've messed up and all of a sudden are back pedaling and protecting the brand that makes them money...DD.

 
Yea, I am not going to sweat DD, yea, there stuff is top of the line and everyone wants it, but if they are going to act like that about it, they wont get any of my monies.

I bet Fi or other companies that sell recones would sell me a kit even if I didnt buy a sub, amp or speaker from them.

Its not about making a buck in some cases, more like making a happy customer. Its a good chance that that guy you sold a recone to may one day want to actually own one of YOUR products, but if you refused him a recone, that will only turn him away.

But like I said, its DD's perrogative so whatever. With all that said.... I still want one of their subs one day lol

Yeah I might only make a dollar today on a re-cone..but that's a dollar more in my pocket then i had. And i've got a happy customer, who odds are...will purchase from me in the future because of that. Who knows they might become one of my prominent dealers on the Ascendant line 3 or 4 years from now, which could be very lucrative. Or i may never see or hear from them again, but i still made a dollar off of them that one day. In short the making that one dollar on that one recone that one day...well worth it. But I see what you are getting at. And its not them killing the industry, its the consumers that want something for nothing that has been long killing this industry.

Why are you comparing DD practices with audioque, DD had nothing to do with the out sourcing. To my understanding there is family ties between the two but they are still two different companies

If you call Audioque...i'd expect the same...all they are trying to do now is protect their brand names...both of them...

There are many similarities between the two..and i believe that's where kbkid was coming from.

If Waffle house sells waffles for a dollar a piece...and IHOP sells them for 3 dollars a piece, knowing they taste similar...not knowing that the mix is made at the same batter facility on the same production line...what would you do?

Would you pay 3 bucks because of the prestige of IHOP because of the image of eating there because they are so well known for their breakfast foods? Or would you pay the 1 dollar and eat at the waffle house and still be full and satisfied either way?
