DB loss from flex

Who's telling you to go smaller then 8cubes with a 21" woofer? Try my recommendation first and if u don't like it cut that box smaller.. But I'm 96% sure my suggestion will slam and get u 148+ Last box I help a guy on I found him 5db :0
Yea 8 cubes is pretty nominal for a healthy 18 and a 21 has quite a bit more cone area. I'd think 10+ would be a starting point.

Box it's in was from IA. I called them and we went over what I was looking for.

Ford Escape is prly to small unless u fold your back seat down... U don't want a tall box. I wouldn't build over like 20" tall in that little truck.. Got any pics of ur 8^3 box in the escape to see how much room u got

See I'm getting conflicting stories about this. Some people are telling me to go smaller CRX style with big port area. And some say go even bigger. I'm down for trial & error but buying wood will get old soon lol.
Its mainly dependent on the sound you want. A bigger ported box will give you a much bigger peak at tuning but cabin gain will tame that down and it'll still be musical. Smaller box will get you more upper frequency response, generally better for a high tuned burp box rather than a musical daily box. If the box is too big blocking the bass then you might have to do a pseudo wall.

Yeah I'll load up some pics later on. I'm at work right now and don't know how to load pics on my phone. Box is 34x25x24

is this a slot or an aero? With slot and around 120 sq inches of port, After displacements, its not 8 cubic feet its a lot less than that around barely 6.2 cubes.

Sorry that was stang and I new box plans for an aero lol. It came out to be 8.3 -8.4 don't remember the exact number after port displacement. The current box is slot port.

I'll grab measurements later on. I could of screwed something up, I have a problem of doing that sometimes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Ok. So you guys are saying I should do 10+ cubes with 160 sqin of port.

160" would be for a 14-15cubed box... U gotta play with numbers and it all depends on the size of the box... Get Torres box calc if you don't already have it
Can't load it on my iPhone. Have to try on my desktop tonight. Don't get me wrong the box it's in shakes my escape to death. Just thinking the meter should show more. Friend just bought a new term sensor so I'll be able to have a more accurate number at my house now. But what would be ideal to you ? 10 cubes to start or just start bigger and go from that.

My 21 did 145.6 I feel that's pretty low compared to other systems I've had in the past. Roof flexes very bad. Been calling a line x company up the street from me to see if that would help the outside from flex. I'll take some videos
How much power? If you say more than 2000W I'd suggest you're doing something terribly wrong.
