Dayton 8" install (pics)

They play all the way down and I have them crossed over at like just under 2k. I have the dayton ref tweets X/O at just above 2k I believe. I'm using an Arc MX1 for my active.
hmm, with mine i had them crossed at about 1.8Khz and they sounded a little muddy on the top end so i lowered it to about 1.5

and on the low end i had them at 50 but they seemed to distort when it got very loud (probably because of it was moving too much)

but when i get my subs installed i am sure this wont be a problem.

are you using a sub? or just the front stage?

Late response but I tested them without a sub, and they didn't really distort down there. I do hear ya on the sound when they play at like 1.8k. I really wanna X/O them at like 1.5 or less and get that new dayton ref midrange to fill the gap and have a nice 3 way.

ghetto installs most wanted?!
i guess you missed the part where i said i wasnt finished....

i am trying to decide between the dayton rs dome mid or the diyma dome mid

both should be about the same price, the diyma will be 4 ohm instead of 8 ohms like the dayton.

i will probably go with the dayton since the grill is much stronger and i wont have to worry about messing it up with my feet.

It practically dwarfs the CDTs... Congrats
yeah they are a little big, i had to use a 3/4" spacer with the cdt's. and a 2-1/4" spacer with the daytons... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

and i noticed something this evening.

with my windows up there is a ton of bass/mid-bass

but if i roll them down the bass practically dissapears and the mid-bass loses some output.

but when i get my sub(s) in i really doubt i will notice it. and i have them up most of the time anyways.

I have a set of these ready to throw these in the door sub location in my mustang. They will be sealed with only .45 of space each but hopefully they will be able to play down to 60 cleanly.

Anybody play around with these in a small sealed box?

It may sound better, but I dont think I would have butchered my door to put those in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

wow thats awsome , how loud do they get? is it a good mix of gettin loud + havin deep + fast midbass? i might pick me up some //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
x2 wanna know this

Those do look really nice for the price...gold push terminals, phase plug and is that a cast basket or just hard plastic?? I'd like to see how you clean up that door. Those should really pound...good luck with the rest of the install.

well i have been told the smallets sealed box you should put these in is .75 but if they will fit with no real modifications it cant hurt to try.

they get pretty dang loud.

i have been messing around with the x-over points and they sound great but if i want to turn it up really loud i need to up it to about 80 or it distrots a bit.

but that is louder than i will almost ever listen to it at.

i am really happy with these drivers, for the $96 i paid for them i dont think you could touch this performance

if you can fit them i would go for it.

it is a cast aluminum basket, and they do pound really nicely.

i am working on cleaning up the driver door right now and hopefully it works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
