I went there today to get a quote for a install and he said 299.00 but I think he was just throwing extra stuff in. I have a 93 lincoln town car and those cars come factory with a small amp so he said I would need some kind of harness. My question is why would I need a harness for that amp if im not even using it? I am goin to run my door and rear speakers off the deck so what was he talking about?

The install was for h/u door speakers rear speakers sub and amp so is that still to high? Also I dont need that harness then do I?

IMO too high....personally wouldn't pay anyone to do that, but there would have to be standard sub install, plus new speaker wire run for the front and rear speakers

I dont think I am goin to pay them either. I was just confused about the wiring harness because I was not even goin to use that factory amp.

You will need the harness to bypass the factory amp. Its probably about 17 foot long and is going to run from the dash to the trunk.

The install price is about what I would have charged to do it with parts.

why cant you do it? its usefull to learn how to install these things yourself, its fun, cost effective, and helps you to be more proud of yourself. unless you have absoloutely no time, theres no reason you shouldnt be able to do a simple install

Yeah typical prices - I went to one last night - I have an 04 Tahoe and will need a similar harness to utilize my factory speakers that was $106 and he was going to charge $200 for the install plus $15 for the antenna adaptor plus another $15 for the dash kit. I said well how do you know that is the right harness, he said bring your hu in and the truck and I can have the factory HU out in a matter of minutes and be able to tell you - then why in the hell would I need to pay $200 bucks for a matter of minutes. I'll buy the harness, kit and adaptor and do it myself and save the $200 for a matter of minutes.

Yea i think I am going to do it myself. So alpineinstaller I have to have that harness even if im running new speaker wire? If so where can I get it from?

The harness BYPASSES the amp. If you are wanting them to run new speaker wire from the deck they are gonna charge you more.

That's high, My installation cost me $75 flat, 1 sub, 2 amps and 2 speakers.
