Going to try to build my first box ive ever built lol.

Gonna be a daily setup thats does good db numbers on music

My dimensions:

Aq hdc3 18

18"Hx

33"Wx

20"Dx

comes to 6.87cubes(before sub displacement)

1-8" sonotube aeroport tune it 40-42hz(have not decided on tune or lenth)

sub up port back,

port on driver side,

sub on opposite side of box from port (passenger)

but curious. i see alot of ppl using these sonotubes but dont "flare" the ends of the tubes.

i tried to look through the search but found no info or reason. anyone know why they dont

flare these?

How much power? Pro-rabbit was telling me AQ's like huge boxes on reasonable power. so if you're running 1000-1500, you could probably bump that up to 7 cubes after all displacement. If you're running higher power though 2k-2.5k he recommended 6.5 as a MAX

Pro Rabbit is right, and you'll find that the suspension is the main determining factor in how much volume each woofer prefers. The smaller/stiffer the suspension, the more volume the woofer will need.
so should i start with 7cu before sub displacement instead of 6.87(before sub)?

I'm guessing you have the aluminum coil since your gonna throw 2.5+ at it?
You can throw 2.5k on the copper coils, you just have to be careful, it's what I'm planning on doing, and it's what dozens of other people have done too, no biggie.
