well im looking to get my next sub built...so far i think it will have a dc lv4 xl motor...my question to you is what kind of things do you ask or state to the builder when youre getting a sub made? so far i have this:

--will be going in a 2002 accord

--will be in a box that is 2.2 after all displacments and tuned to 37

--will be ran off a mb quart dsc1500.1 and possibly a dsc2000.1 in the future

--will be a 12"

-- for daily but will do local comps from time to time

--i want it to be able to take a serious beating

--would like it to be able to take 2000 daily and possibly a tad more for burps but i wantiti to get LOUD off the 1500 i have on tap now

what else should i say or ask? i want to get this one right as im going to try and stick with this sub for a little while. also if anyone knows a exact name brand paint that you can use on the cone and cap would be awesome. im guessing psi uses somehting like epoxy? could be wrong....well throw me some ideas or suggestions please...

go with a full cone dustcap. easy fix. then paint that. adding epoxy based paint could add weight to the cone in a bad way...
well i dont wanna do a full cone...you mean kinda like w7 style? cuz i want two colors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You have local comps in jacksonville? Any loud shit?
nah i plan my trips back to va around some of the comps...loudest ive seen around here is like 146....nothing real good...but still louder than me ant the moment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

as far as the questions go, thats what i ask when i build subs for people

as far as the paint, they make a paint that you use on model airplanes that is suppose to be light. you can always send dave an email and ask him

ya i doubt he will tell his secret //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so am i good with the info i have? n othing else i should ask?

Getting loud off 1500 and handling 2000+ are 2 different things. If you want a really stiff *** inefficient sub thats gonna handle 2kw+, its probably not gonna be super loud on 1500. Id go with a soft suspension setup if it were me building it. IMO, wasting that much power on a little sub is just that, a waste. If youre going for daily loudness and SPL you need to rethink some stuff and start chopping up that honda to fit 6cf net for 2 15s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Question, if you can move a sub the same amount with 1000w and a soft suspension, why would you wanna do it with 2000w? Just to say it handles 2000w?

BTW some auto parts stores sell this bad *** epoxy spray paint called VHT, should check it out.

I'd let them know what ohm load you want to run at, and if you want like dual 4, dual 2, single, whatever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
