custom first order crossover help...

ok i posted this over at diy also but ill see if anyone has any input here...

anyway long story short until i can afford an active 3 way crossover (if anyone wants to donate one feel free) i absically dont have a highpass set on my midbass..

so as a bandaid for now... im using my equalizer to turn down the lower frenquecies and does a good job overall except for at 20hz... i would like to have it at least another 6db's down... so i decided for now.. i wanted just to put a first order crossover in there.. just to help tame it...

anyway using online calculators, i've come up with some numbers for the capcitors i need... but am i supposed to use the nominal resistance.. (4) or use the resistance at the crossover point provided in the spec sheet (roughly 12)

i used the one from the spec sheet and grabbed some caps real quick.. and even tho the crossover point seems off slightly... another thing i noticed is either my amp starts to clip alot earlier.. or something else is causing this.. at about 50 watts (half what my amp is rated for) my bass starts to sound "hollow" not like bottomingout or over powered... just hollow.. and used to go much higher without the crossover

so i figure its clipping.. but i dont know why? could it just the resistance building up on the cap.. thats causing it clip?
