Custom Fiberglass Progress Thread: check it out

id opt for sum better resin if i were u...i no ur not going to be using much of it, and prolly think that there isnt a difference between brands...but if u spend the extra 10 bux per gallon to get EVERCOAT resin or something comparable i garantee u it will be worth it

i used the cheapest stuff at lowes and home depot, and i've used the expensive stuff and i've never noticed a difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif .

I've used generic crappy stuff, vs stuff I bought at a plastic shop. The plastic shop stuff was WAY better quality for the same price; mostly because places like lowes let the resin sit on the shelf for god knows how long and it degrades. The good stuff goes on smoother, mixes thinner so it will saturate cloth easier, etc. Another way you can notice the quality difference is usually if you let generic resin harden in a bucket any more than 1/2" deep it will all crack and craze. The good stuff I used hardens into a solid translucent block that you can drop on the floor without it breaking.

lol.. i used cheap pep boys resin, with fiberglass it was like 42 bucks (i know thats a rip off...) and had it in half a .5gallon milk jug that i had cut half off of, and it cured in there, bout 1.5-2 inches deep, and it came out a dark brown see-thru block, and i beat my buddy over the head with it while he wasnt looking, and also threw it on the ground, no damage...

Sometimes you get not bad stuff, but there's no guarantee. The stuff I got is $43CAD for a 1 gallon jug and it's *tits* to work with compared to the Canadian Tire/Wal-Mart stuff I've used before.

Depends on how hot you mix it , but why would I want to waste that much resin ? . Even bondo brand is expensive . Age has a lot more to do with anything than brand when it comes to poly resin . Epoxy is an entire different cup of tea though . But most auto parts stores and wally worlds carry poly resin. I use it quite often for spur of the moment jobs , and have yet to have any problems with it . On occasion it's kind of thick. But a little acetone will cure that problem nicely

UPDATE!
