Curious about building a HT T-Line for 18" Driver...

Hey there,

Im pretty new to the home theatre side of audio, and i was intrested in building a very high efficiency enclosure (Because home audio amps are pretty expensive) and i would like a setup that gets retardedly low. I currently have a 50" Panasonic Viera with the matching 1000w 5.1 Setup. The mids and highs get very loud and stay very clear, but i find the low end lacking. Im buying my first house in a few weeks and its kinda slated to be a party house from time to time, so i would like to setup a kickin' stereo. Now, im not stuck on a Transmission Line enclosure or an 18" driver. I was wondering on using a RE SE 18 with a 500 watt Bash amp....

Please throw me some suggestions, some best bang for the buck options....

I would also be intrested in someone drawing up a T-Line enclosure for me once i find an appropriate driver....

Thanks!

you might get some more help if you go over to the enclosure and design area. they will probably just design you a big box with a really low tunning, like 18 hertz or something.

The Transmission line is tuned to the FS of the woofer.

Unless you can find a reasonably low FS in an 18" woofer(And I'm talking closer to 15-20hz) it wouldnt be worth it.

Also, that enclosure will be very very very large.

Your BBBBBIBs matched your TV pretty well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Sadly the BBBIB's don't exist anymore... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

They wouldn't fit in my new house either. Next massive project will be a set of Imp Horns. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

*edit* I had forgotten about the photo of them side by side to a 19" tube, they look like they are going to eat it alive.

Im not really looking for the craziest home theatre setup around.... im quite satisfied with my Panasonic surround speakers.... im just looking to beef up my low end considerably....

15ft would be fine if i could fold it in like 3 5 foot sections...

Well thing is, with home theater you want a LOW tune anyways, to pick up the rumbles and whatnot in the movies.

Are you wanting it for your surround sound, or are you wanting it for your music? Two different applications that are hard to find a good median for.
