crunch amp gets hot

i have a crunch 1100 watt powerzone amp and i have 2 mtx terminators hooked to it and the amp gets real hot and cuts off the subs but if i reset the amp it does okay. is the thermal protection cutting the subs off or what? and if it is is there a way i can keep the amp cooler?

What ohm are the subs wired to?

What enclosure are they in? The older enclosures had some kind of resistor that kicks the subs off.

well the powerzone series are kind of a piece of junk

buy a fan for it......its probably a class a/b amp. they are good at running hot...

whats your ground look like? If its too long it could cause overheating, seen that plenty of times. Ive installed plenty of those p1100.2 amps you have and havent had any issues with it. How do you have it mounted?

1. What is the model number of your amp?

2. What is the impedance of your subs (DVC, 2-Ohms, DVC 4-Ohms, SVC 4-Ohms....)?

3. Are they wired stereo or mono bridged?

4. How are the coils wired (Parallel, Series, parallel/series....)

Answers to these questions will likely lead to the problem and solution.

You can also call 847 540-7700 and ask for tech support.

If a Powerzone is running hot, there is a reason that can be attributed.

well the powerzone series are kind of a piece of junk

I had one and it did pretty good.It's one 2 15" L7's and it beats,no overheating.

To the op,I think the powerzones are AB class and get hotter than D class,check your install also your subs wiring.
