Crossovers in the door help.

Can you solve it?
I have a dodge Stratus 02 R/T and I put in some CDT 6.5 comps awhile back. Well I couldn't get the speaker wires through the door twice so I installed the crossovers in the doors. Well it works great except its spring here in glories Ohio and its raining non-stop. I had to take the door apart last weekend because of a crackling (turned out to be a small amount of water got into it). How can I protect the crossover from water? It has a vent on the top and I can't find anywhere that says if its cosmetic or if its for function. If I wrap the crossover in a bag or something to protect it from water will it overheat the crossover? I'm running 75RMS to the comps.

Thats not an option. I can't get two pairs of wires through the door without ripping apart the plastic that prevents the door electronics from getting wet themselves. Really only left me with the in-the-door option.

Any chance you could relocate the crossover from inside the door itself to the outside between the door panel and the inner door skin?
I don't think that is in my realm of know-how. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I put mine in a tupperware container with the bottom cut off for ventilation.
Honestly, sometimes the easiest ideas are the best. I had never though of that. But thats one heck of a good idea! I'm going to do that. Should take care of my problem.

Thanks!

So how big are the crossovers themselves ? Dimensions ? Need to know how big we're talking here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not too sure to be honest. They are CDT crossovers (stats or sats?) If I had to guess I would say 6 inches long 4 inches wide made 3 1/2 deep?

im not sure how hot a crossover would get but i know in rc cars we plastic dip our servo casings so the internal electronics do not get wet. if you do not need to get into the crossover you could plug the holes with some silicon or something and then dip the whole thing in liquid electrical tape o some other form of plastic dip. wouldnt let nay water in but crossovers might overheat? not sure never did it to one or really touched mine after a long listen to see if they were hot

That would work too as long as it doesn't damage the crossovers. Sometimes I think they are vented like that just so you can see them. I'm hoping someone will give their 2 cents to tell me if I'm right about this or not.

Thanks for the feedback.
