The car: 2006 Grand Prix

The use: Daily driver. No competitions or anything special.

Head unit and power being installed this weekend. Ordering amp and sub today/tomorrow.

My plan:

With the factory alt and no additional batteries I'm planning on ordering an AP 1500.1D and powering a single FI-Q 12 dual 4 wired at 2 ohms for 950 watts. This should allow for future upgrades. Should I decide to upgrade the electrical I can add another FI-Q and wire at 1 ohm for 1500 watts.

My only concern is that I read that FI likes a larger enclosure. I want to be sure I have room for a second in the future.

I'm just looking for constructive criticism on this plan. Any recommendations for other equipment within the same price range would be great.

That amp if its the one Im thinking will do slightly over 1100 watts at 1 ohm until everything gets warmed up. We did an install on a friends car with all 0 guage wires, big three in 0 guage, and red top battery. Voltage still takes a hit with the factory 160amp alt. Just some input with first hand experience.

We've got a 16 cu. ft. trunk, I think you'll be able to squeeze in a second. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

THANK YOU!! Great to hear from someone with the same vehicle. This isn't MY car and I haven't taken a gander at the trunk yet.

What are you running for enclosure size?

Well, I've only got a temporary box right now, thats less then 3 cubes. But eventually I'm probably going to end up with about 3.5 cubes.

These are decent budget subs. The box design isn’t bad at 5 cubes for these, but I’d drop it down just a little and raise port tuning up to 32...
