How do you guys crimp big, thick wires? I am talking about crimping the 0 guage wire and say the battery terminal eye bolt you attached to the battery.
x2. You rotate the wire so the hits from the flathead go in different directions, making it hard for the wire to come out. Been doing it this way for a while now, never had a problem. Only time I had one come out was when I didn't rotate the wire, and the hits were all in one direction, lug slid right off.Hammer + Flathead Screwdriver + something hard + electrical tape = 0/1 and bigger crimper
Pops has this crimper for welding wire that you whack with a hammer. Works great.
That's what I use, then solder/heatshrink. If I can't do a pullup on the wire (me=240#), then the connection wasn't good enough. I'm kinda OCD on shit like that.http://www.waytekwire.com has a hammer crimper that works great for around $20.
That reminds me, a guy at work had a die that he puts in the table vice specifically to crimp large rings. IDK where he got it, he may have made it himself. I'll ask. Thing is sweet, and even easier than beating with a hammer.table vice ftmfw. step 1. insert terminal. step 2. vice it shut. never ever ever comes off. we had a tug o war with one of them lol
