Creative people: I need help designing a logo!

Alright, i know there are some realy creative people in here, so i decided to ask for help here.

As some of you may know, im in a band, and recently we decided to change directions. Rather than Play and write songs we know people will like, we decided to play what we feel like playing. I thought it would be appropriate to change our name to Paradigm Shift, since we are kindof breaking away from the local garage bands and starting our own scene. not that i think were actually 'unique' in any way, but i do think the name still fits, and it sounds cool.

So to the point, i am having a awfully hard time designing a logo because im just not creative enough. i figured someone here has an idea.

If it helps, we play a combination of Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk and ocasionally some prog rock. were basically a jam band, not many vocals on the stuff we write ourselves, but we do cover stuff from every thing from The meters, to led zeppelin, to Rush, to Incubus. The only reason im saying this is i dont need any sugestions like devil horns and stuff like that, it needs to fit our band.

One thing that ive been trying to do is incorporate a cool symbol, like a buddhist Om, that has some meaning behind it also, but im falling short here.

Im also messing around with the idea of a Grafitti/tatoo style lotus flower. i like how they look from the side, but i dont know how to incorporate "Paradigm Shift" into the flower if i do.....

Well im not too good at drawing things from scratch, so i was messing around with this Lotus drawing i found on google, and i changed it a bit. Its far from a logo, but i think it could be a start. It actually took me about 2-3 hrs to just take the water off of the bottom petals and cut out the flower. Im not to good on psp, but i think this came out fairly decent.

I suggest using that lotus flower and then having

Paradigm shift sort of around it in very styalized sort of hand drawn or cursive writing..

the words should wrap around the flower... Pradigm on the top and Shift below.. or both words below or both words above...

Heres somehting i did just quick this morning. Its a tatoo drawn by Brandon Boyd from incubus, and i kinda ripped out the lotus flower.

The quality sucks, and i didnt really smooth it out yet, but what i like about this one is i can actually write on the flower. The om is on there now, but i could change it.

what i would like to do is figure out a way to incorporate our name in with the First flower rather than just writing it next to it.

i really wanted to make the letters look in motion, but i dont think that would really work with this, im gonna go mess with it now. Theres gotta be someone on here with an idea of how to make this cooler, cmon...

EDIT: the noise in that picture makes it look really shitty, ignore all of the imperfections in the black backround. for some reason it does that whenever i change it to Jpeg.

i just blurred the edges of the flower on this one, but i think it looks better than the first. maybe a little less blur, but i think part of that has to do with uploading it. the effect is much better on my computer.

I like how you embossed it, how do you do that? its been a while since ive messed with PSP, so im kinda learning it all over again.

and yea, uploading pictures really takes a lot out of them...

im now messing with the "hot wax' effect. without adding any color this looks amazing.

I use photoshop, not PSP, it is much easier in photoshop.
