Crazy things heard from a shop

I explained the big 3 to a local shop thats been around for 15 years plus and he told me that would be a horrible idea because it would cause a tremendous amount of alt whine

8000 watts / 12 volts = 666 amps = your mechanic is a retard.
Thank you thank you!!!! Look I hate coming at people like I know everything. Sh!t im here to learn and do. When he dissed my alt and couldnt help me with good grounding points for the engine block I just thought to myself ****. Do they only teach this stuff to audio guys? I mean a mechanic should know about electrical demand and compensation and how to meet it. I am not asking the dude to know what battery and all that. I just need ideas for grounding points and all that. (Tahoe has an engine block ground that goes into infinity for the stock ground)

ive heard all kinds of shiits....15's never sound as good as 12's....best place to put the alarm brain is in the dash.....jl makes the best everthing...

No mixed match subs sound the best! So you can get teh dif frequencies. And duh of course JL is teh shit!

all shops workers are all taught that what the store carries is the best and that their top of the line brand name just kills all. most shops have no idea about the big 3 because they are normally selling their caps n such. find a good mechanic and explain to him what the big 3 is and what it does. if he cant attleast agree that in theory it will work then he isnt that good of a mechanic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif also i use to run a 6" jl subwoofer free air in the accord and hit a 167.3 sealed up on the window...with a jl 500/1 amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

With all due respect -- Most wrench turners are turning wrenches for a reason.

Don't get me wrong, I know some very intelligent mechanics, but most of them are just repeating the same basic tasks they've been doing since they were in high school.

Basic Electric Theory - current draw, voltage drop, actual in-car amplifier power -- might as well be quantum physics.
