Crazy things heard from a shop

Im sorry but this stuff kind of got me. I go to get my alt. put in and the mechanic says he is running 8000 watts, with two 12s and some coaxials, 3 amps all off stock. He did say he got an Optima deep cycle battery (marine) but ALL is stock. No Big 3 or anything. Then he states he is hitting 152.6 dbs. I have no clue how he measured. I have done a lot of research on this audio stuff and his setup seems to make no sense. Deep cycle batteries are known to charge slower than "audio" batteries and 8000 watts seems a little out there. I think he may be going of max and not avg (rms). Can you even run a setup like this on stock? His whole notion that a larger alt is bs seems, well stupid. His stock alt should have burned out by now! I will have to get to you guys on his setup. I need to see it next week some time.

If I am wrong or missing some key concepts please in form me. Thanks.

Yes, you can easily run an 8000w amp off of stock....if that amp is a Quantum or Power Acoustic

Are you guys serious? 8000w off of stock alt? I mean I understand a burst. Continuously though? I think of it like using a faucet to fill a swimming pool. It will fill but it will take forever.

Hey, my PA has 200A fuse. Stock alt will cry a little bit with 2 of those amps

the more you do on your own ( or with willing friends ) on your install, the better it will be imo. Compared to those locals anyhow lol.

I get it all the time. The local shop i go to for my fuses and stuff are ridiculous. I went in there for a 300amp fuse, and he told me there isn't an amp made that draws 300amps of current. Then he charged me like 12 bucks for the fuse.

The same guy at the same shop criticized my Alphas. "clean install and all but dude you gotta get rid of those cheap internet brand woofers" and proceeded to explain to me how godly his single 15 JL was. I wish i wouldn't have blown the fuse cause i'd have given him more than he bargained for from my "cheap internet brand woofers".

My dads the same way, though. He things 1/0 power cable/charging cable is ludicrous. Meh...

Agreed. I am driving 4 hours just to have one put it in. I am all about learning how to do this. I watched countless videos and everything. This is just a big install for my first time. Plus I have too many jobs to sit done and take GOOD time to do it. I am confused on one thing though. Whats up with the ground from the engine block? Just wondering

Yeah same here. I can find something that does 4000 watts for 250 is something I hear all the time...

ive heard all kinds of shiits....15's never sound as good as 12's....best place to put the alarm brain is in the dash.....jl makes the best everthing...
