2005 Silverado Door Chimes question

I'm replacing the factory head unit with an Alpine on my 2005 Silverado Club Cab. I see where I need an adapter to retain the door chimes. Here's my question - do I have to have this? I hate the door chimes. I do not have Onstar or steering wheel controls. So will I be fine not using the adapter?

Also - do I need the antenna adapter that Crutchfield lists? Or will the factory antenna plug direct into my Alpine?

Head unit is Alpine iXA-W407, by the way.

Thanks!

you should get the interface from the shop. i have heard horror stories of air bags not working. i find that hard to believe sometimes. i usually just wire it and make my own accessory circuit.

the red wire that comes in the harness you buy will have to be run to an accessory circuit on the car. i use and 18awg white/green wire in the long flat harness under the drivers dash. its located on the drivers side of the steering column. if you lay in your back near the pedels you will see it. use a meter to test to verify tht wire for 12v accessory and ADD AN INLINE FUSE at least 10a(red) and run this to the deck cavity and attach tothe red wire from the alpine.

any questions email me sales@fenixaudio.com

hey, my bad...i though i read you had a 05 colorado...sorry. the wire you will be looking for on a silverado is a 12awg orange wire running to your fuse box from the key cylinder. you can use brown also if you like. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ADDA FUSE.
