couple sub? plz

i have a couple of q's? first how come everytime i put my 10'' kicker l5 in a ported box it blows like come gets froozen solid. is it becuase my amp is to high. or could it be that my box specs are wrong for the sub.

second i am gonn age buying another sub i am lookin for a 1 sub system for my 4 door dakota. i am about $600 with sub and amp buget. i am prolly gonna get a hifonics amp, but i am inbetween subs i have been looking at the orion 12'' h2, or maby 2 12'' orion hp. any other suggestions would be helpfull. basically i need something that would be louder then 2 12'' mtx 8500. o and buy the way these subs whatever i get will be put in a ported box.

anyways do you know the specs of your box? what amp are you pushing it with and how is the sub wired? does your amp have a subsonic filter and do you use it, if so at what setting? the 2nd paragraph i couldn't understand what the hell you were saying

k lets start over sorry im tired.

basically i was wondering if one 12'' orion h2 would be able to get louder or hit harder then two 12'' mtx 8500. or maby 2 orion hp subs. that being said i have a 600$ budget for a sub and amp, so if anyone could give me any other ideas that would be great.

i think the mtx's would get louder, i have heard they can get very very loud. but for 600 you could do much better. if you are looking for pure spl there are usually some atomic or massive audio subs in the classifieds that you could get.

for just daily spl try looking into DD 3500's or the audioque HD's, but check out your install since you are blowing subs before you throw more subs in there

if you got the orion 2500d and that dd 3500 sub, that would get crazy loud, and is just a little over your budget.

i'd be concerned with why your L5 blew. you said "everytime" so it sounds like this happened more then once. i would try to get to the route of that problem before buying new equipment
