SQ = Sounds nice... hence, sound quality.

SPL = Usually a single tone that gets incredibly loud but isn't good for playing music.

SQL = Gets loud, but still sounds good.

They're generally not the best for SQ...

More towards SPL subs than SQL.

So what's in between all out SPL with a horrible sound, and great clarity, with no output?

So what if it's a made up term, it's not like it's degrading the car audio world... It's quite a bit easier to use than to say: I want a loud sub, with loud output, and awesome sound quality. Whats your budget?

Around the 200-250 range I would recommend DD3512's and SI Mag 12's

i currently use an si mag v1 and am either upgrading to 2 of those later or 2 dd3512s

there are many more good choices as well

I used to have an RL-P and for the price it was pretty good, but I would pay the extra money and get something really nice. You can have an rl-p 12 for around 150-175 im pretty sure, and i doubt you would be disappointed.
