could my electrical be a reason why my L7 isnt so loud?

i notice people do the big3, add batteries, etc, when they are pulling alot of current and alot of watts. usually, lights dimming, etc... well im only using one 10" l7 and maybe 500 watts and my lights dim like a mother ****er. headlights, tail lights, interior lights, everything flickers when my bass hits. could this be a poor electrical system, or just bad power/ground?

You could see about a local electrical place re-winding your alt to a bit higher amperage, my last alt gained about 30 amps that way.

I'd try the big 3 first. I did it to my 99 firebird. The stock alt is 105 amps. When i put my bass amp by itself, the lights didn't dim to bad. Then I put a kx600.4 next to it and it had a big voltage drop. I did the 2 steps of the big 3 w/ 1/0 welding lead wire and it helped it out a great bit. I'd say do that and see what happens.

Do the big 3. Check all your connections, especially your grounds. Bad connections are hell. Also check that your battery is in good condition.

If all else fails it's probably time for a beefier alt!

theres no reason you should need a bigger alt for 500 watts... but who knows??? electrical systems are weird

You have 500 watts going to a 10" sub did you expect to be breaking windows or something? P.S. I have an 10" L7 getting 600 watts and I know it ain't shit but it is all I need for now until I can afford bigger.

Also you said you were using a Jeson (of all brands) prefab, get get a decent box and you will probably see a difference from just that in itself.

for 500 watt rms you should not be having dimming lights

i have my sundown @ .7 daily and i get no electrical problems at all
