Control box/bass knob

work is a little slow this week so I decided to try building a bass knob/volt meter/switch box for LEDs and a future motorized amp rack. Im a cheap SOB, so I’m using an old black and decker power inverter housing that I ripped apart, cut up and painted. I cut the housing and left it a little large to add more switches and knobs into it later. Anyway, not much of a build log, but it’s a fun little project for the day.

Notice the custom irish made end caps. These are a fine piece of engineering that almost fit.

The knob is imported all the way from Mexico. Cholula is kind enough to stock these at your local grocery store with free hot sauce attached to it.

Everything works as it should. Much better potentiometer than the bass knob that comes with the amplifier. Smooth volume increase on the whole sweep. Need to get longer RCA cables and install it up front.

Far far better control of the bass with this potentiometer over the bass knob that came with the amp. The stock bass knob only really worked on about half the sweep. im Going to add a potentiometer to control the speed of my cooling fans and a switch to control the LEDs for the amp board. Maybe a dimmer switch. It kind of turned out better than I had thought it would. I dont like the cheap looking volt meter, so I might change that out.

I used a 50k pot. A solder type potentiometer that I soldered panel mount RCA connectors to.
