Running Alpine 1.1000 amp and 2 JL 12" W6v2 subs.

Since the rubber went on the one JL sub, and I may have to practically buy a new one to fix it anyhow, im considering maybe getting out of the JL game all together. Wanted to get some ideas on similar subs (pref cheaper)

I would like to reuse my box, it has about 1cu ft or maybe a tad more (high end of the W6 spec if I recall) per chamber.

Maybe IDQs? Havent been in the loop for the last year since ive been pretty happy with my setup. Thanks guys!

I care most about the bass shaking my seat, so I imagine that related to the SPL? Def dont want to skimp on the SQ, hopefully you know what I mean. Ive been pretty happy with the W6s although this is my first set of subs so I have nothing to compare to. I am a little pissed they dont offer an inexpensive soluition to repair a foam surround and its making me consider reselling and buying a diff brand.

And Im more of a cake person //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Being that you're a cake person, I would have to recommend...

Actually I won't make a recommendation based off that.

I'm a Type-R fan. They seem to, for the most part, match what you're looking for. You would definitely save a lot of money in comparison to a W6 too. Your amp would match up well with the RMS ratings on them as well. I'm not quite as familiar with some of the brands people seem to love on here (Incrim., DD, etc.), but I'm sure there's a bunch of options they can offer you.

Also, what about one of the upper level MTX woofers? I've heard several 8500s and I was very impressed. SQ wasn't incredible, but they definitely had the "seat shaking" ability you are looking for. 8500 might be a little hard to find, but could be worth it.

Please do not get a type R...they sound horrible. Everytime I hear a type r set up, I am sooo glad that I had gotten rid of mine. Look into Sundown Audio SA-12's, IA Lethal Injections, DC Level 3's, and Fi SSD's. I'm sure you would be happy with any of those choices. A good mix b/w SPL and SQ. Usually I get a new setup every year...but I don't see myself getting rid of my SA-12's anytime soon.

Just checked the prices on the Type R, wow its like 1/3 the price of the W6. It works okay in a sealed enclosure of 1-1.2cu ft?

Same for the other suggestions, being that I want to keep my box for its perfect size in my car, will they match well with my Alpine 1.1000 amp and the chamber sizes? Any suggestions on best places to buy from? Right now Im checking ebay but yeh, nuff said. Thanks

It would do well in sealed 1 cu ft. I had mine in a 1 cu ft box and I was impressed.

It's funny... this forum used to scream nothing but "Type R, Type R!!" I know the subs have changed a bit and all.. but it's still funny how over time there's a select 3 or 4 brands that this forum migrates to.
