SA-8 and SA-10 question

I'm currently running 2 TC Sounds 1000 8's (getting 300W) and after looking at the SA-8 (it would probably receive 450W or 600W) I'm curious as to how they sound. I'm more of an SQ guy than an SPL guy so while loud is good clear is better. I'm wondering how as far as SQ these sound in comparison to my 8's and I was also considering going to a 10" woofer and the SA-10 looks to be a good candidate. I'm going to switch to a single driver so I want good SQ while still getting a decent amount of SPL in a relatively small enclosure.
