CONICAL enclosures?

I was just at a local concert and the band there had what looked to be a very small setup, but the bass was clean, loud and hit very hard-and I saw no dual 18" boxes... I asked one of the members what was doing all that- he pointed to a small beat up box. Two 12" drivers (I'm sure they had to be PA drivers) in a conical enclosure, "the cones" being on the inside. I just ran this past some of my buddies here and they say I'm full of shit, and the band member mentioned a NASA design...

I have got to get myself summa that! Anyone heard of or seen the the conical concept?

Quite possible... Except the outlet on the box was unlike a horn sub, it was pretty small. And to show off, (sez them) they only had one of the 12's pumping.

Sounds like bull****. Unless you used a hella small horn and wound it like a slinky that's not gonna happen any time soon.

I will call their part time soud board guy... He still hasn't paid me for my 2 15" Orion 2NT's yet. I will jerk his chain, meybbe I can get a peek at the box. The guy who built it was like 45 years old i guess- it took him weeks on end to get it perfect...

They had it on a 400 watt Peavy amp i believe.

my 6.5's do really freakin' well AP in my kicks... it sounds really really nice. so much that a dude that i know pretty well, and has followed my system for the last four-five months and listens every time i change something, couldn't tell if the sub was on or off because i had the frontstage allpassed... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
