Computer System

I have a budget of $500 for a 2.1 or 5.1 system for the computer. I currently have a 5.1 and a 2.1 logitech system on different computers, but neither are overly impressing me. I'm looking for great mids and hi's as well as a ton of bass. This system will mainly be for music and gaming, however every once in a while for a movie. I can build boxes, and wire everything, so all I need are some suggestions for a big sub, big amps, and some good mids and tweeters i suppose. Ive been looking on parts express, and I just don't know whats good and what isn't so its hard to decide what looks like a good deal and what doesn't. Also, how does the wiring work on a computer system with a built system like I am wanting? It goes from the sound card to the amp? What if it's a multiple amp system? Ur probably gonna need a 5.1 Channel sound card. Just like running RCA in the car, there's 1 port for front left and right, 1 port for rear left and right, and a 3rd port for center/subwoofer. They arn't that expensive unless u want a brand name like soundblaster or something.
