Computer subwoofer installation

kind of a bold statement as many have used car audio subs in home theater systems. i have a mtx 9500 15 in my home theater room and it sounds amazing....i agree that the two are different but would not go as far as your statement...never....its been it done...
It doesnt. What you think sounds amazing from a 9500 is no where near the quality of what a real subwoofer designed for HT use can do.

I tried explaining that, that IT CAN BE DONE, and it DOES SOUND GOOD.
So far you havent explained anything. You posted what you think is right. I would stop being ignorant and try to learn something. Coming in here with a thick head will get you no where in the tech sections.

Now you go beyond a "bold statement" to all out BS.... I have personally ran several brands and models of subs inside my home and they all sounded great. It doesn't take much power to have great response from

One of the best setups I had was rather simple/cheap: two SoundStream Pro 12's ('95 era) in a 30hz tuned box powered off a Reference 500 amp....

This Kmart blue light special Cyber Acoustic sub is not the same as a $10K HT system, and neither is an MTX 9500 for that matter. For the cost of a single MTX 9500 15" you can get the Swan Audio D10HT which simply crushes anything the MTX can do for right around the same price. Obviously there are exceptions to this rule (ie: Dayton HO series, TC LMS, etc.), but as a general rule of thumb you should get a sub designed for the enviornment its going to be in. Especially if you cant figure out how to hook up some RCA's.

So your agreeing that a $70 computer sound system is as good as a real car audio sub in a car?

I have seen car subs in homes. I also could of swore that digital designs subs were in the Disney Epcot center audio ? Years ago anyway. I could be wrong but I thought it was the 9100 series.

No, I was disagreeing with this:

What sounds good in a house will not sound good in a car and vice versa.
I agree with everything else you have said so far. I also agree that if you can't figure out how to hook up a set of RCA's, you don't need to dabble in designing your own system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif If he wants a "little" bass, at least it gives him a taste of what it will sound like and how to do some simple wiring.

i have done it and it works as well...

it is just the way most of the users in this forum think. one sided.

it is hard to find users that think outside of the normal realm of audio....

HOME SPEAKERS WILL NOT SOUND GOOD IN CARS AND VICE VERSA....what a load of ****....

Actually, I DID explain. I explained that I KNOW THE DIFFERENCES, in WHY ht and car subs ARE DIFFERENT, and SOUND DIFFERENT. I also stated that IN MY CASE, THIS LITTLE SUB SOUNDS GOOD, for the amount of low-end that I want. Jesus christ.

Now you go beyond a "bold statement" to all out BS.... I have personally ran several brands and models of subs inside my home and they all sounded great. It doesn't take much power to have great response from This.

Read my posts. Did I ever once say my cheap-o budget computer sub was comparable to what a top-of-the-line car audio set up can do? NO. I never said anything of the sort. I said regardless of the environment I'm putting my HT sub in, it STILL SOUNDS GOOD FOR MY PERSONAL TASTE. lol, audiophiles, I swear.

I think you guys are being to one dimensional. He's not going for big bass, or super hq sounds. He wants a little...I stress a little more rumble.
My god, this is what I have been saying from the beginning.

Easily done with proper door speaker installation.
Which I have. The bass and 'thump' I get from my little 5s and 3.5s, are not even close to the 6.5 inch sub I have sitting in my passenger floor-space. I'm not looking for BIG BANG BOOM, I'm not looking for the best of the best, I'm looking to hook up my cheap *** sub to my cheap *** truck LMAO. I never compared a little lonely HT sub to car audio, I simply stated that IT'S NOT ALWAYS HOW YOU SAY IT IS. Just because your a mod and have tons of xp in car audio, doesn't mean you know everything. Like Kingj said, you're being completely biased and one dimensional.

Couldn't agree more.

Way back when I was into SQ I considered this. Getting bass up front was a big deal, with people putting 10's and 12's in the dash. I always wondered what a small computer sub tucked up under the dash would sound like. For low-mid volume SQ type listening. They seem like a convenient package.

so, your telling me what my sub sounds like in my house when you have never been there, sat in my theater room, heard any audio at all from my sub? how can you say that or make that assumption? now your talking out of your ***....its like me saying i love the colors of magenta you painted your entire attic and inside the closet in which you set your gay ***. i have never seen your house, been to your house, nor would i want to. you are not the one person that knows how i actually hear sound and what sounds good to me. everyone hears a little differently and hear different tones better than others.

as far as explaining anything, what do you want explained. the things have been done by others with good results for them so that would be explanation enough. if asked more about what the specs for the subs used and enclosure sizes would require explanation but no one has ever asked about it. as far as i know this is a car audio forum and not a HT forum. you seem to be one of the know-it-all guys that will not want to learn anything from another person when its a little different. you must be the audiophile god of the world..

I'm a little confused, OP you start this thread asking how to hook it up in your car.
then three days later you have put 15k miles in with the system through multiple seasons??

did you invent time travel?
I should of been seperated my forum post a bit. That post was from a different forum, I simply posted what he said in his topic, arguing the pros and cons of HT in cars.
